Our Story

The idea for the DEBO Alliance was birthed in 2014. It formed organically out of friendship between four individuals who shared a passion for caring for orphaned and vulnerable children. They had a vision to see the church, NGOs and individuals coming together on behalf of these children. There are eight founding organizations who answered the call for collaboration. In 2014, DEBO hosted the first ever Orphan Summit in Addis Ababa. This annual event draws hundreds of attendees from all over Ethiopia for two days of inspiration and training. DEBO became a registered network in 2021 and is also registered as a global network through the Christian Alliance for Orphans (CAFO).

Where it started…friendship between Belay, Dinsry, Sibelu, and Trent (L-R).

Why DEBO?

Debo is an Amharic word that symbolizes a group of people working together for a common goal and good.
